How to use the Google Sheets add-on

Install the T.LY add-on, connect your account, and shorten URLs in your spreadsheet.

The T.LY Google Sheets add-on creates short links from URLs in your spreadsheet. You can shorten selected cells or every URL on the current sheet, then write the short links into the adjacent column or replace the originals.

Before you start

You need a T.LY account with an active trial or paid T.LY plan. Installing the add-on does not add a separate charge. Link limits, custom domains, and analytics follow your connected T.LY plan.

Install and connect the add-on

  1. Open T.LY URL Shortener in Google Workspace Marketplace.
  2. Click Install and follow Google's prompts to approve the installation.
  3. Open your spreadsheet and launch T.LY URL Shortener from the Extensions menu.
  4. Follow the add-on's prompts to authorize your T.LY account. You do not need to generate or paste an API key.

Shorten URLs in your sheet

  1. Select one column of URLs, or choose the option to scan every URL on the current sheet. Bare domains such as example.com are handled automatically.
  2. Choose T.LY or a custom domain available in your connected account.
  3. Choose whether to write short links into the adjacent column or replace the original URLs. Check the output column before writing results. Use the adjacent column if you want to keep the original URLs.
  4. Run the add-on to create your short links.

When replacing originals, invalid URLs and failed requests are kept intact.

If you run into trouble

  • Account connection: Complete the authorization prompts and check that you connected the T.LY account you want to use.
  • Links are not being created: Check the URLs, your account's active trial or paid plan, and its link limits.
  • A custom domain is missing: Check that the domain is set up in your connected T.LY account. See custom domain setup.

Spreadsheet access

The add-on works with the current spreadsheet. It reads the URL cells you select, or the current sheet when you choose that option, and sends those URLs to T.LY to create short links. It does not request access to every spreadsheet in your Google Drive. Read the T.LY Privacy Policy for details.

See the Google Sheets add-on page for more details, or contact support if you need help.
