About Web Video Player

Why this tool exists

This player was inspired by the idea that browsers run media playback inside sandboxes and receive security updates frequently. If you are cautious about opening videos from unknown sources, a browser-based player can feel safer than installing another desktop app.

What it does

  • Play local video files in your browser without uploading.
  • Add subtitle files in SRT or WebVTT format (SRT converts automatically).
  • Use keyboard shortcuts for play, seek, and volume.
  • Boost volume up to 400 percent using the Web Audio API.

How to use it

  1. Drop a video file into the player or click to browse.
  2. Optional: add a subtitle file.
  3. Use Space to play or pause, Left and Right to seek, Up and Down to adjust volume.

Privacy

Processing happens locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
