How Restaurants Can Leverage QR Code Menus
This past week, I visited a restaurant and noticed they were using QR codes for their menus. Have you been seeing QR code menus popping up around town too? It’s hard to miss how quickly they’re becoming the norm. So, what’s behind this change? As consumer behaviors change, restaurants are adapting to keep up. QR code menus offer an easy way for restaurants to save on printing costs, update their menus instantly, and even change prices on the fly.
The Digital Shift
QR code menus are just the first step in making dining faster, easier, and more interactive. I believe in the future we will scan a QR code to load the menu, order food through the app, and a robot waiter will bring you your food. In my opinion, this will be a much more streamlined way restaurants will operate.
Why use QR Code Menus?
- Ease of Use: Saves time for the restaurants and customers
- Customization: The menus can be updated dynamically and include pictures, reviews, and even videos of menu items.
- Analytics: Using QR codes that can be tracked when scanned, restaurants can track their customer engagement.
- Sustainability: By reducing the need for printed menus, restaurants cut costs and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Implementing QR Code Menus
- Create Your Digital Menu: Design a visually appealing, mobile-friendly, and easy-to-navigate digital menu
- Generate Your QR Code with T.LY: Use T.LY to create a short URL for your digital menu and generate a QR code linked to this URL. Customize the QR code to match your restaurant’s branding.
- Display Your QR Code: Place the QR code on tables, at the entrance, or in other locations within your restaurant. Consider adding instructions for those unfamiliar with how to scan a QR code.
- Educate Your Staff: Ensure your staff is well-informed about the QR code menus and can assist customers if needed.
- Gather Feedback: Solicit feedback from your customers regarding their experience with the QR code menu. Use this feedback to make improvements and further enhance the dining experience.
- Backup: Have a printed backup in case customers do not have their phones.
What are your thoughts? Do you enjoy QR code menus or are you not a fan?
