Link Shortener For Teachers
This year has brought about many new challenges and changes. We have all had to find new ways of “getting the job done.” We have all had to problem solve our way through this new world we have ended up in. Things are not easy. Our old ways of doing things sometimes have to be thrown out the window and replaced with something new.
One of the many professions that have had to reinvent the way they do things is… teachers. Teachers are used to having curveballs thrown at them with the expectation for them to exceed no matter what is asked of them. This year has been the curviest curveball that has been thrown in recent times. However, teachers are resilient. They do this because they have a passion for their students and a desire to effect change for the future generation. With many teachers teaching virtually or in person or a hybrid of both… oh and there are also those who have A/B day cohorts or A/B day cohorts plus virtual or… the list could go on and on with all the different variations of students that teachers have to keep up with. All teachers out there will probably say that they would take any tip or trick to help lighten their load.
With most learning happening online in some form, teachers are having to adapt their paper and pencil methods for technology-based activities. Worksheets are now Google Slides. Tests are given on Google Forms. Presentations are now video recorded. Digital formats of everything are now necessary across the board for all ages. Whether the teacher is a kindergarten teacher or a college professor, the students will have to be engaged in some type of digital learning. This can prove to be very challenging…. Bless all of the kindergarten teachers out there who are having to teach 5-year-olds through a computer screen. You are all the real MVPs!
One very simple tool that can help create a smoother teaching/learning process for any level is a URL Shortener. Being able to get links to students, in short, concise formats can be a lifesaver. The shorter the link, the more likely you would be to get through a lesson without a million and one interruptions about what to do. So, whether you post a link in a chat or send an email to a student, using a link shortener can create less confusion for all involved. The last thing a teacher needs is extra questions like “Teacher, what are we supposed to do? or “How do we get there?”
T.LY has created a URL link shortener that is so simple and easy to use. Teachers can also download the Chrome extension and have quick, easy access to be able to create a shortened link in a few simple clicks on the spot. We at T.LY hope that this little tool can be a helping hand to all of those teachers out there who are working hard to provide the best learning environment for their students, despite this major curveball that has been thrown in our direction. Happy link shortening!
