Ajax cuts equipment repair costs by 11% and increases reliability with maintenance management software

In this new case study, fleet manager Dan Maitland outlines how maintenance management software from B2W helped his team at Ajax switch from a reactive to a proactive approach. Results include big drops in direct repair costs, unplanned work and emergency work orders.

The paving and road construction company with operations in Florida and Michigan has cut equipment repair costs by 11 percent, according to Maitland. Ajax has also increased average mean time between failures by 120 percent, cut unplanned maintenance work in half and reduced emergency work by 41 percent.

Maitland says software automates the notifications or preventive maintenance, so work is done at proper intervals. The company also utilizes dashboard, repair request, work order processing and mechanic scheduling and timecard capabilities and relies on the CMMS application from B2W to manage parts, inventory and purchasing.

An inspection process utilizing electronic forms helps too. Operators complete each inspection 30 minutes faster, on average. “When a maintenance requirement is identified, we’re notified immediately,” says Maitland. “We’re not waiting for a paper form to get to the office or shop with a low success rate and a delay in follow-up action.”
