1Co 4:14  I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 

1Co 4:15  For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 

1Co 4:16  Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 

1Co 4:17  For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. 

“Father’s Day,” a ‘customary day for the celebration of fatherhood,’ is the definition of a day that has been celebrated for many years around the world. It is a day that the world acknowledges the fathers of the world, and they are in most cases shown more love than the previous days before and treated with the utmost respect on that day. But we who “led by the Spirit,” are taught to live by, and walk by His word alone, what day did ‘Father’s Day’ fall upon when the Lord walk the earth? What day did Father’s Day fall upon during the Apostles ministry? Why did they not write when to observe all these “days, and months, and times, and years?”

Php 2:19  But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 

Php 2:20  For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 

Php 2:21  For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. 

Php 2:22  But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. 

We are taught not to “esteem” one day above another, we are also taught to show selfless love one to another every day, and that every one of our days, ought to be our Heavenly Father’s day, because that is how we are going to spend eternity, and that is living in His Day. And the Apostle Paul, and our Father desires that the “strong” in the faith establish the “weak in the faith” as a ‘father’ in the faith.  And God desires more from the Saints than just being “an instructor in Christ.” He desires that the strong in the faith establish the weak in the faith as a father, and that they too will be able to teach others as a ‘father to a son’ type of Spiritual relationship.

Gal 4:9  But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 

Gal 4:10  Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 

Gal 4:11  I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. 

Gal 4:12  Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. 

Furthermore, Paul says in 1^st Corinthians 4:15-16, that he has “begotten” them as a father, and as such, their ‘Spiritual care’ is entrusted with him as well. He ‘warns’ them in verse 14 about the dangers of not ‘following’ his ensample, and there was a great danger to their godly edifying, but notice in verse 16, Paul ‘beseeches’ them to be “followers” of him. He wants them to also establish others as a father just as he is unto the Corinthian Saints. The Galatian Saints also valued ‘holidays’ in their day, Paul called their ailment “bondage.” The Apostle Paul’s remedy for their Spiritual condition was that they would follow him, and as he said; “be as I am.”

1Th 2:7  But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: 

1Th 2:8  So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. 

1Th 2:9  For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. 

1Th 2:10  Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: 

1Th 2:11  As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 

1Th 2:12  That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 

1Th 2:13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. 

Finally, today we are in the same dilemma that we see in Paul’s day, in the Body of Christ, we see more “instructors in Christ,” than there are those who are Spiritually “able” to teach, and establish the Saints as a father. Sadly enough, most do not see this vital component to the edifying of the Body of Christ, and are not quite “able” to discern the difference between a Pastor who is not strong in the faith, and just “an instructor in Christ,” and one who is strong in the faith, and doctrinally able to establish the Saints in the doctrine according to godliness, and educate the Saints as sons, and eventually as a “father” themselves. Every day ought to be our Heavenly Father’s Day in our sight, we ought to desire to be educated by His Word, whereby we  are educated unto “a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” as “sons,” and then, and only then will we be “able” to teach the Saints as a “father” in all godliness.

2Co 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 

2Co 6:18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
