DePaul Earns Clean Sheet Against Loyola

9/12/2019 9:20:00 PM | WOMEN'S SOCCER

CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer came out on top in the first game of the Red-Line Rivalry Week with a 2-0 shutout of Loyola (2-4-1) at Loyola Soccer Park on Thursday evening.

After a scoreless first half, the Blue Demons (3-4-0) came out with a lot of belief and a new set piece and the rest was history.

Kristin Boos scored her second career goal in the 63rd minute off a corner kick sequence that rebounded off the save to give DePaul the go-ahead goal.

Morgan Turner would find a chance on goal in the 75th minute but Loyola keeper Grace Droessler would make the save. The junior forward knocked on Loyola's door three minutes later and blasted a shot from about 30 yards out into the top right corner of the net for the insurance goal and game winner. Boos would notch an assist on the goal.

The Blue Demons would outshoot the Ramblers 11-8, putting 5 shots on goal. Both Boos and Turner had four shots while Jade Eriksen-Russo would add two and Brooke Weitzel fired off one.

Mollie Eriksson played all 90 minutes in the net, making four saves and earning her third clean sheet of the season.

Loyola midfielder Abby Swanson put up three shots and despite their four chances, no Rambler would put up more than one on goal. Droessler tallied three saves against the Blue Demons.
