Midweek Acid with: J-LOWER – Cellular System (Club Mix) #Acid #Techno #AcidTechno
A banging midweek needs a banging tune. Eschewing my normal aversion to bangers here’s a cracking track from J-LOWER.
J=LOWER is Jeff Lowe from Cardiff. Clearly a long term music lover, he’s started releasing stuff under the J-LOWER name over the last year or so across a range of genres. Today’s offering is Cellular System which is firmly in the Acid Techno space but with a lighter touch than most of the Acid Techno tracks I get which tend to want to stamp on your face forever.
Cellular System (Club Mix) opens with banks of synths that owe more to 70s disco than they do to 80s acid. But then comes a 90s Guerilla style twangy bass line. All sounding kinda progressive house at this point. A feeling accentuated by the fragments of female vocals.
But then things get a bit harder. The track seamlessly moves its way into solid techno. And then the acid flavours arrive. The track never quite explodes as you’d imagine. It’s happy to let you wallow in the acid and a lovely synth bath. It’s all terribly positive and lovely. And these days who doesn’t need a bit of that?
