DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals in the second half to come from behind to defeat Davidson 3-2 in Atlantic 10 play Sunday at Baujan Field.Â
Prior to the match, the Flyers honored their eight seniors:
Emily Jones,
Alex Powell,
Jordan Pauley,
Madeleine Morrissey,
Hanna Merritt,
Micayla Livingston,
Caroline Mink, and
Emily Trick. Â
But it was four freshmen that provided the fire power on offense for the Flyers:
Laney Huber,
Alexis Goins,
Landy Mertz, and
Jessica Sheldon combined for all the scoring on UD's three goals.Â
The Flyers improve to 5-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in A-10 play. The Wildcats drop to 8-4-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference matches.

• Davidson scored in the 28th minute on looping cross from the wing that found the side netting and then again on a direct kick in the 37th minute and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.Â

Landy Mertz scored her second goal of the season in the 49th minute dribbling past several defenders and then unleashing a shot in the upper netting.Â
• Mertz combined with
Jessica Sheldon on Alex Goins' team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 56th minute to tie it up.
• Sheldon scored her first collegiate goal and the game-winner off a follow by
Laney Huber set up by Goins in the 66th minute.Â
