BIRMINGHAM – There were three goals scored in the last seven minutes of regulation play in Sunday's 2-2 draw between UAB and Old Dominion at BBVA Field.

ODU (8-3-4, 2-3-2 C-USA) got on the board in the 10th minute when Talia Tapper took Amanda Nhek's cross to find the back of the net.

The defensive battle continued for the next 72 minutes until Regan Kommer took a corner kick. The ball ricocheted off a defender back to Kommor who placed the ball in the upper right corner from a very difficult angle.

The Blazers (4-5-5, 2-3-2 C-USA) built on that momentum and scored less than three minute later. Betsy Ornelas took a ball in the right corner and found Shy'Nya Stephens in the box for a header to put UAB ahead 2-1.

However, with 38 seconds to play in regulation, the Monarchs got the equalizer on Riley Kennett's score.

The best chance for either team in the extra periods came in the 104th minute when Kamilah Mustafa had a breakaway, but her attempt sailed high.

Keeper Eve Beyer made four saves while her counterpart Kasey Perry turned away three shots. Ornelas and Sarah Buse each had three shots for UAB.

"It was great to see a fight in our players today for the second half and into overtime," said head coach Erica Demers. "But at this point in the season, when all teams are fighting for points, we can't afford to not show up for 45 minutes and expect to earn three points. I really thought our second goal by Sha'Nya from Betsy on the back post showed the effectiveness we can have as a team."

"We have three massive games on the road next. We are going to re-group, re-focus and prepare for our next opponent," added Demers.

This was the final match this season at BBVA Field for the women's soccer team. The final three regular season matches are on the road. WKU on Oct. 25, Southern Miss on Oct. 27 and Middle Tennessee on Nov. 1,
